Fire Max 11 is the latest addition to the Fire tablet family with new features and accessories. Fire Max 11 accessories

New Fire Max 11 accessories provide customers with a similar experience to PC and create opportunities to increase in-app engagement depending on the app. The new Made for Amazon Stylus Pen provides a smooth writing, drawing, and gaming experience. To optimize your CX, implement the new Amazon Stylus SDK, created to reduce latency when drawing or note-taking. Sold separately but compatible, the Fire Max 11 Keyboard Case is a magnetic two-piece keyboard comprised of a keyboard and track-pad, providing customers with 2-in-1 detachable experience.

Implement the new Stylus SDK

If you are building Android apps with support for stylus inputs, you are likely familiar with the Stylus docs for Android 6.0 and higher. If this is your first time integrating stylus inputs, it’s worth knowing that OEM devices are able to transmit essential stylus data—such as pressure sensitivity, eraser, side buttons, device ID, etc.—back to your application. These touch datapoints are then transmitted over Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, or USB back to the device.

With the Made for Amazon Stylus Pen and Fire Max 11 combined, you can optimize the writing speed by implementing our Predictive Touch API through the new Stylus SDK. On Android tablet devices, it can often take an upwards of 85ms to 100ms for stylus strokes to appear on the screen. The Stylus SDK reduces latency by over 20 milliseconds. The more responsive your app is on this new hardware, the better experience your customers will have when using your app.

How to get started:

  1. Download the Stylus SDK and add it to Android Studio to include the StylusSDKSupport-1.0.aar library as a dependency for your app. The two relevant classes to use in this library are AmazonPredictedEvents and AmazonPredictiveTouch.
  2. Use the AmazonPredictiveTouch.isFeatureRuntimeAvailable() method to check if the device and OS meet the SDK requirements (see code example below).
  3. Once Amazon Predictive touch is confirmed, make sure to add ` AmazonPredictiveTouch.init() in the onCreate() method of an activity or during View creation.
  4. Follow our docs to set the view and map touch points with geometrical transforms to achieve optimal stylus accuracy. The Fire Max 11 supports palm detection to support touch interactions alongside stylus input.

As mentioned in Step 2 above, here’s a code example for verifying the Amazon Stylus SDK is compatible prior to launching the enhanced functionality:
